Adult Congenital Heart Disease Fellowship Research Opportunities

In an increasingly competitive professional job market, the well-trained adult congenital cardiologist should have a strong command of clinical research and the fundamental tools and methods used to design research. Multiple opportunities are available to continue clinical research interests at UMMC. We are the home of the Jackson Heart Study and we also participate in several other multicenter Adult Cardiology clinical trials in all areas of cardiology. For those interested in a formalized degree program, UMMC also offers the Master of Science in Clinical Investigation through the School of Graduate Studies. Such applications must be received by May 1 of the year that the fellow wishes to begin a fall semester program.

Research timeline

Fellows are encouraged to begin thinking prospectively about their research work in cardiology as early as the fellowship interview/program selection. Fellows can seek out mentorship and begin submitting IRB applications as soon as their first month of rotations.
